It alarms me that within just the 500 plus member households of our Chudleigh Neighbourhood Watch there is rarely a week going by without one or more reporting what one might call a, 'SCAM' attack. If I were to email members every time I received such reports I would soon be accused of something bordering on a, 'SPAM attack'! Hence I am prompted to do what I can in my own small way to make people aware of just some of the many and devious ways of the thief - and that is what these people are - in these new, 'SCAM' PAGES' on the web site. I hope you find them useful.
There are already many web sites you can visit if you just enter the word, 'SCAM' in any search engine, but not everyone has the time to visit what can amount to hundreds of them - and, frankly, nor can I.
However, what I have tried to do is is to point visitors to these pages to government agencies such as Consumer Direct where there is plentiful information to be found on how to avoid being a victim and what to do if you become a victim.
If you live in Chudleigh and are not already members of our Neighbourhood Watch then please consider joining. By just displaying those stickers on your door/window you will be helping tell the criminals they are not welcome here and we can keep you further informed as to any current matters you should be aware of - over to you!
Best Wishes,
John Hallett, Co-ordinator, Chudleigh Neighbourhood Watch.
